Words I would have been proud
to have written myself
and was so flattered
when I discovered
that they were written for me.

Come!
Let's take the bikes down by the river
- just us two.
It doesn't matter if we get our shoes wet
or forget the time and miss tea.

Ah!  I'm sitting on the cheese & pickle sandwiches
but that doesn't matter either
'cause there's blackberries on all the hedges
- ripe and ready
- waiting for us to pick them one by one.

Let's rest for a while
so I can tell you that you're different.
I know I shouldn't say this but I love you.

The handle on my basket is broken though.
The berries are falling out.

I mustn't love you.  I know that.
So I'll just write it here.
There's no harm in that.
